We utilize a soft tissue laser. In many instances, it replaces the scalpel blade. And, in treating some causes of sensitive teeth, it replaces the drill.
When used during surgery:
- It greatly reduces bleeding during and after surgery because it seals blood vessel endings
- It greatly reduces discomfort after surgery because it seals nerve endings
- It usually eliminates the need for sutures
- It speeds healing and recovery time following surgery
The laser is used to:
- treat gum disease
- improve appearance by removing gum tissue when too much gum tissue shows during smiling ("gummy smile")
- remove suspicious growths to submit for biopsy
- treat certain causes of teeth that are overly sensitive to temperatures, sweet food, and sour food
- treat other situations
